Abstract movement graphic. Follow the written steps below.

How to perform

  1. Use a securely fixed bar at a height you can pull from without slipping.

  2. Position yourself underneath with hands around shoulder width and feet on the floor.

  3. Keep the body in one line and pull your chest toward the bar.

  4. Lower slowly; bend the knees or use a higher bar to reduce the difficulty.

Key cues

  • Check that the bar cannot move or roll.
  • Bring the chest upward without jutting the chin.
  • Keep hips in line with the torso.

Common mistakes

  • Using an unsecured bar.
  • Letting the hips sag below the body line.
  • Shrugging instead of drawing elbows back.
